Ann Curry

Ann Curry was born in the US and works as an American photographer and journalist. Over the past forty-five years she has focused her work on reporting human suffering, especially when natural catastrophes or war are occurring. Curry was a journalist in war zones such as Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry is a journalist anchorperson for television, reporter and anchorperson who was born in 1956. Her best-known role on Today the program, which is a National Broadcasting Co. morning news program that broadcasts daily. Curry is well-known for her reporting of humanitarian crises and natural disasters particularly in nations that have been devastated by war. Curry's mother was Japanese American and her U.S. Navy-sailor father played prominent roles in Curry's life. Her father dated the mother of her in Japan when he was a stationed there following World War II. Family members were constantly moving due to her dad's military service. Curry was able to complete her high school studies at Ashland Oregon. She graduated in 1978 from the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in journalism. She was exposed to a variety of cultures and the experiences she had during her growing up probably influenced her way of communicating on global issues. Ashland was her final high school. She started a new career path that could lead to a successful career as an intern at broadcasting station KTVL Channel 10 Medford. She was the first female news correspondent at this station when she was just 22. In Portland the state of Oregon, she was appointed anchor and reporter by KGW NBC's affiliate. Then she returned in Los Angeles four years later as a journalist for KCBS TV. It was during her time with this channel for the duration of six years that she won the two Emmy Awards.
